FREE public wi-fi is now available at Parc Howard Museum.

Carmarthenshire County Council and Llanelli Town Council has made significant investment in the museum’s digital infrastructure to provide a free service for visitors and allow more use of digital technology in the museum in the future.

Digital connectivity is part of the museum’s long-term development plan to increase visitor access and engagement with the museum, providing services and facilities that have the potential to offer a wide range of public and community benefits.

The provision opens lots of exciting opportunities, such as downloadable apps to explore and interact with the museum and park’s history, augmented reality, introducing more multimedia content in exhibitions, exploration trails and games.

Morrigan Mason, Museums Development Manager for Carmarthenshire County Council, said: “We have some great ideas for making Parc Howard a more exciting, welcoming and caring place. Some of these changes will take years and others are happening right now. Our focus is connecting in new ways with our communities, such as exploring how existing social media channels can be used more creatively to encourage everyone to get involved and contribute their ideas.”

Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, Executive Board Member for Culture, Sport and Tourism and Chair of the Parc Howard Collaboration Group, said: “We are pleased to invest in digital infrastructure to help the museum grow and diversify. These are exciting times for Parc Howard, fresh from being shortlisted for the prestigious 2019 Family Friendly Museum Award, and we’re hoping that it will go from strength to strength.”

Cllr Shahana Najmi, Leader of Llanelli Town Council, said: “I am very pleased to see the completion of the free public wi-fi scheme. Parc Howard is a valuable asset and attraction, not only for the town of Llanelli but Carmarthenshire as a whole and upgrading the wi-fi connectability is a small but vital step towards the Group’s intentions of improving the facilities at the park.”
