Event Pros Gather in Las Vegas for ‘Call to Arms’ Meeting

Event pros gather in Las Vegas to chart course for co-located Catersource and The Special Event 2020.

Event and catering pros met in Las Vegas yesterday at the Mandalay Bay for the annual “Call to Arms” meeting, outlining plans for showcasing events at the 2020 The Special Event and Catersource show.

The 2020 show, which runs March 9-12, will be unique in that two outstanding industry brands—Catersource and The Special Event—will co-locate. The combined event is expected to draw more than 8,500 attendees and more than 500 suppliers. The education roster will feature some 200 sessions and more than 300 speakers.

At yesterday’s meeting, event experts brainstormed on plans for marquee events such as the Opening Night Party, Event Experience, Leadership Lunch, Awards Ceremony and Closing Night Celebration. Lenny Talarico, event producer and instructor at the International School of Hospitality, and Pamela Howatt, founder of Divine Events, both based in Las Vegas, are the show’s ambassadors.
