A motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital following a serious crash in a Staffordshire village.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and police were called to reports of an accident involving a motorcyclist on Bell Lane in Barlaston just before 2pm on Wednesday.

Barlaston is located just off the A34 near Trentham Gardens.

A 50-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said:  "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle at the junction of Wedgwood Drive and Bell Lane.

"We were called at 1.48pm.  Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and a Midlands Air Ambulance from Tattenhill with a doctor on board attended.

"We have provided trauma care to the motorcyclist, a man, on scene.

"He was taken by land ambulance to Royal Stoke University Hospital in a serious condition."

Police say they would like to speak to witnesses to the crash including another motorcyclist.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Officers would like to speak to another motorcyclist who may have been riding alongside the man who is injured as he may be able to assist with the investigation."
