Council chiefs are clamping down on an unauthorised traveller encampment in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Staff at Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council have stated that a court removal order has been served on Blackfriars Road, where travellers are currently based.

Officers will soon be on site to enforce it and will be looking to removed the travellers from the site.

The authority took to Twitter to share the news.

The tweet read: "A court removal order has just been served on the unauthorised traveller encampment on Blackfriars Road car park, in Newcastle.

"Council officers will return to enforce the order at 1pm with assistance from Staffordshire Police."
