The P-Bruins shutout the Toronto Marlies 5-0 last Wednesday before hitting the road for the weekend, hoping to continue their recent hot stretch. Rochester, the North Division leader, was upset by Providence in mid-November, while Saturday’s tilt against Belleville was the first of two games against the Senators this season.

Friday, December 7 vs. Rochester, 2-1 Loss:

There wasn’t much going right for the P-Bruins against the Americans. Justin Bailey scored twice in the first to give Rochester a 2-0 lead, but a goal from Zach Senyshyn less than a minute into the second period gave the P-Bruins a little bit of momentum. While a last-second effort from Peter Cehlarik and Jordan Szwarz nearly forced overtime, the P-Bruins saw their eight-game point streak come to an end on Friday.

Saturday, December 8 vs. Belleville, 3-2 Loss:

After traveling for nearly twelve and a half hours to get to Belleville, the P-Bruins once again found themselves chasing the score on Saturday. A power-play goal from Senyshyn cut the Senators’ lead to 2-1 in the second, but Belleville scored less than three minutes later to go up 3-1. Connor Clifton scored his first of the season in the third, but the P-Bruins fell 3-2 to Belleville to close out the weekend road trip.

Looking Ahead:

Providence heads to Utica on Wednesday before returning home for the weekend to take on Bridgeport and Hershey. The P-Bruins are 3-0-2 against Bridgeport this season and have yet to play Utica and Hershey.

Standings Update:

The P-Bruins remain in sixth place in the Atlantic Division with 26 points and a 11-10-4-0 record. They are 13 points behind the division-leading Charlotte Checkers.

Scoring Leaders:

  1. Ryan Fitzgerald: 7 goals, 14 assists, 21 points in 35 games
  2. Colby Cave: 6 goals, 12 assists, 18 points in 15 games (currently on recall in Boston)
  3. Cameron Hughes: 8 goals, 8 assists, 16 points in 25 games
