Since the beginning of January, the Providence Bruins have been one of the more consistent teams in the AHL. But over the weekend, they had a minor setback as they picked up just two out of six possible points. Here is a recap of the weekend’s games.

Friday, Febuary 15 vs. Toronto, 3-1 Win:

The P-Bruins kicked off the weekend with a solid 3-1 win over the Marlies on Friday night. Trevor Moore put Toronto up 1-0 in the first, but goals from Steven Kampfer and Lee Stempniak in the second gave Providence a 2-1 lead into the third. Anton Blidh gave the P-Bruins some insurance in the third with his eighth goal of the season.

Zane McIntyre made 25 saves on 26 shots to pick up the win.

Saturday, February 16 vs. Charlotte, 3-2 Loss:

Down 3-0 at the beginning of the third, the P-Bruins showed some life with two quick goals from Paul Carey and Jakub Zboril, but weren’t able to even things up before time ran out. Dan Vladar stopped 29 of 32 shots in the defeat.

Sunday, February 17 vs. Springfield, 5-1 Loss:

Sunday’s loss was the first time the P-Bruins lost two games in a row in regulation since mid-December. The Thunderbirds carried a 3-0 lead into the third, and despite allowing a goal from Jordan Szwarz, were able to hold off the Baby B’s en route to a 5-1 win. Zane McIntyre made 21 saves on 26 shots and saw his 12-game win streak come to an end.

Looking Ahead:

Providence will host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, travel to Hartford on Saturday, and then host Hartford on Sunday.
