Business suffers fire damage

Wilmington Fire Department units responded to a an early morning blaze Monday on the 2200 block of Monroe St.

S & W Ready Mix Concrete at 2209 Monroe St. suffered an estimated $10,000 damage, according to Thomas S. Robinson Jr., assistant chief of operations for the WFD.

Trucks first arrived at the scene about 3:15 a.m., joined by EMS and Duke Energy teams. Firefighters posted that the blaze, which was electrical in nature, started in the business's break room and was quickly contained. Units cleared the scene about 5:18 a.m.
