A school bus was involved in a traffic accident in the Monkey Junction area of Wilmington Wednesday morning.

No students were injured, but the bus driver was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, said Trooper Chris Lee with the N.C. Highway Patrol.

The accident also caused a major traffic snarl at Carolina Beach Road near Sanders Road.

According to Lee, the driver of an SUV traveling north on Carolina Beach Road and turning left onto Sanders Road was charged with failure to yield to the school bus.
