Man dies after daytime Wilmington shooting

A man died due to his injuries after a shooting in Wilmington on Monday.

According to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department, officers went to the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue -- between Market Street and Princess Place Drive -- around 1:15 p.m. Monday, May 18, in response to reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, the release said, police found a male shooting victim, Shawn Levern Grady. The victim, aged 50, was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where he later passed.

No arrests have been made in the case, which is under investigation. Anyone with information on Monday’s Montgomery Avenue shooting is asked to call the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609.
