A 55-year-old man was shot and killed early Monday morning in Wilmington.

Around 2:30 a.m., police responded to the 400 block of Clay Street in reference to a ShotSpotter alert, according to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department.

They discovered Brian Keith Glaspie lying near a residence and he was pronounced dead at the scene, the release stated.

This case is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609.

The police department is also still investigating a Friday night shooting that resulted in serious injuries.

In that incident, a 20-year-old man was shot multiple times near 5006 Hunter’s Trail, the police said.

And a week ago, on Monday, May 18, Shawn Grady, 50, was shot and killed in the 100 block of Montgomery Avenue.

Andre Devaughn Huckabee, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to Grady’s murder. Police are seeking Edward Demorris Huckabee, 38, on first-degree murder charge.

Jessica Williams, a spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department, said the latest case is still under investigation and that detectives are unable to say if it is related to the other shootings at this time.
