As the run up to the 2019 Gold Cup gets underway, manager Gregg Berhalter will have a look at players he may call into the tournament later in March. After that, the USMNT will have a few friendly dates scheduled ahead of the tournament. Where and when those matches would be held hasn’t been announced, but according to a report by Steven Goff of the Washington Post, the team is getting close to setting a friendly at the new Audi Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The match would be held prior to the 2019 Gold Cup kicking off on June 15th. It may not be the only MLS stadium hosting a friendly. Goff also reports that Nippert Stadium, home of FC Cincinnati, is also contending to host a pre-Gold Cup match. The report notes that the venue choices haven’t been fully announced and that USSF did not comment on the story.

As for the opponents, that is still up in the air. With the Stars and Stripes taking on Ecuador and Chile in March, who should they face ahead of taking on Concacaf’s best this summer?
