OVERNIGHT: 2 hospitalized after pin-in crash in Southeast Austin

Two people were hospitalized early Saturday with serious injuries after a pin-in collision in Southeast Austin, Austin-Travis County EMS officials said.

The crash happened at around 1:56 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Interstate 35 on the northbound service road near Oltorf Street. As a result of the collision, one person became pinned inside a vehicle and a second was ejected and pinned between two vehicles, authorities said. Rescue workers were able to free the two people.

In total, four people were in the vehicles involved in the crash. Two people refused treatment, and the other two were taken to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with serious injuries that were not expected to be life-threatening, authorities said.
