1 killed, 1 injured in Southeast Austin crash

A man in his 40s was thrown from a vehicle and died Monday night after a Southeast Austin crash, officials said.

A second man, also in his 40s, was seriously injured after a van and a truck crashed around 8 p.m. on East Slaughter Lane, about half a mile east of Interstate 35, Austin police and Austin-Travis County EMS officials said.

Medics took the injured man to St. David's South Austin Medical Center with potentially serious injuries, EMS officials said.
