UPDATE: Evacuation lifted at Texas Capitol, officials say

2:00 p.m. update: An evacuation at the Texas Capitol ended on Friday afternoon after Austin fire crews found no fire inside the lowed extension of the complex, Austin fire officials said.

EARLIER: Austin fire crews were called to the Texas Capitol on Friday afternoon after receiving reports of a possible fire.

Austin Fire Department Lt. Rob Stephenson said crews evacuated the lower extension on the east side of the complex around 1 p.m. and found a light haze and odor inside.

By 1:25 p.m. firefighters had not located the source, he said.

Stephenson said the haze was dissipating as firefighters made their way through the building.
