EARLIER:

President Donald Trump will arrive in Austin this afternoon to speak at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s annual convention.

The event will be held at the Austin Convention Center in downtown Austin. Trump is expected to speak around 5 p.m.

While his route from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Southeast Austin is unknown, commuters should expect rolling closures in and around south- and downtown Austin as he makes his way to the convention center.

Delays could last several hours.

At the airport, runway operations will shut down just before Air Force One arrives, including takeoffs, landings, the taxiing of aircraft, and even loading and unloading of baggage.

Typically, presidents have taken about 20 to 30 minutes for meet-and-greets on the runway before going into town, and once their coterie of armored cars gets rolling, flight operations will resume.

It is unclear whether Trump will use the same route going back to the airport, so drivers could face an entirely different set of highway closures in the evening hours.
