Hays County reports 3 more coronavirus deaths, 38 new cases

Hays County health officials on Wednesday said three more people have died from COVID-19, the diease caused by the coronavirus.

One person from Kyle — a woman in her 60s — and two people from Buda — a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s — died, bringing the total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the county to 34.

The county on Wednesday added 38 new lab-confirmed cases of the coronavirus to its total, which stands at 4,969.

Officials also reported 66 more recoveries from COVID-19, along with six new admissions to the hospital.

The county now has 2,848 active cases and 2,088 total patients considered recovered. Of the 117 total hospitalizations so far, 16 people are currently in the hospital.

The number of negative tests is 21,898. Epidemiologist Eric Schneider is awaiting results on 52 tests.

“Seeing the case counts declining is good,” Schneider said Wednesday. “But we need to remain vigilant. We encourage all Hays County residents to continue doing the things they’ve been doing: wearing masks, hand washing and distancing.”
