Escape the summer heat with a trip to one of these public pools in the Salem area:

Albany Community Pool

Features: 50-meter, Olympic-size pool

Hours: Open swim 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday; family nights are 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday/Friday (an adult must accompany children younger than 16 in the water)

Cost: $4.50 adult, $4.25 ages 55 and older/ages 18 and younger; family rate is $14 for up to six people; additional family members $2 each

Burkland Pool

Features: A pool

Turner's Burkland Pool.

Hours: Open swim is 1 to 4 p.m. and evening swim is 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, open for private rentals only Saturday and Sunday; other lessons activities available

Cool! Pool

Features: A pool, a 36-foot slide and lazy river

Hours: Open swim is 1 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; Family swim, 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. For swim lessons, visit their website.

Dallas Aquatic Center

Features: Six lane lap pool, warm therapy pool, hot tub, a multi-use pool, wading pool, slide and lazy river

Hours: Open 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday/Wednesday, 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday/Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday (check schedule for adult and recreational swim times)

Independence Outdoor Pool

Features: Heated outdoor pool

Hours: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

The Kroc Center

Features: A competition pool and lighthouse leisure pool

McMinnville Aquatic Center

Features: Two indoor swimming pools, hot tub and fitness center

The McMinnville Aquatic Center is located at 138 NW Park Drive, McMinnville.

Summer hours: Public swim is 7:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 1 to 3 p.m. Monday/Wednesday/Friday and 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday; Family swim hours also available

Osborn Aquatic Center

Features: Four pools used for lap swimming, open recreation, toddler time and more

Silver Falls Family YMCA

Features: A 6 lane lap pool with diving board.  A shallow pool and zero depth pool.

Hours through July 28: Open swim 1 to 3 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; other programs such as lap swim, limited open swim, aquacise, teen night, swim lessons, and swim team available each day; contact the pool for an updated schedule.
