Conditions were just right for some snowfall in the foothills of the Cascades this morning.

Reports of snow on the ground in areas east of Silverton and Stayton prompted some rural bus routes to switch to snow routes early Wednesday.

The Silver Falls School District released that buses for Silver Crest School, Scotts Mills School and high school routes 1,3,4 and 7 will be on snow routes.

Temperatures were at 33 degrees and rising as of 5 a.m. at the weather station in Jordon, near Highway 22 southeast of Stayton.

Social media reports stated the snow was mostly slush as of early morning and travel wasn't impacted but was still on the ground in higher elevations in the eastern valley foothills and the hills of South Salem.
