Stayton woman dies in car accident near Sublimity

Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fatal crash that left one Stayton woman dead at 8:48 a.m. Thursday, May 10, just south of Santiam Golf Club near Sublimity.

Cynthia Becker, 62, was traveling northbound on Golf Club Road SE when her Ford Taurus crossed the center line and collided with a Volvo semi-truck.

According to Lt. Chris Baldridge, the driver of the semi-truck did not sustain any major injuries. 

It is unknown why Becker's car crossed the center line, Baldridge said, but the report indicated there were no signs of impairment for either driver.

The accident investigation has been closed.
