Stayton motorcyclist dies after crash on Salem Parkway

Salem police have been investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Salem Parkway Oct 1. 

At around 11 p.m., Cody Alan Daniel Ellis, 22, of Stayton, was riding his motorcycle southbound on the parkway south of Cherry Ave NE, when he lost control and was thrown off the motorcycle.

Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. 

The Salem Police Traffic Control Team found that Ellis was unable to "negotiate a curve" on the road, lost control of the motorcycle and struck the curb. 

Salem Parkway was closed in both directions for about three and a half hours following the crash. 

Ellis was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
