Light snow is expected to fall across Salem on Wednesday and at various times the rest of the week, but not much is expected to accumulate, meteorologists said.

An inch is possible in the city’s highest elevations, including the South Salem hills, but the city shouldn’t see any snow stick to roadways, National Weather Service meteorologist Scott Weishaar said.

“The roads are well above freezing, and by this afternoon it should warm back up into rain,” he said.

There will be other times when light snow is possible across the Willamette Valley, primarily Thursday and Friday night, but no major impacts are expected.

The surrounding foothills and mountains will see more snow, around 1 to 3 inches in the Cascade Foothills and 3 to 6 inches at pass levels.

“But it’s not the type of major storm we’ve seen recently,” Weishaar said.
