Two suspects were arrested Friday following an overnight "smash and grab" in Woodburn.

Woodburn police identified the suspects as Anthony James Matthew, 26, and Elizabeth Lambright, 41. They were booked into the Marion County Jail.

Matthew faces charges of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and first-degree aggravated theft. Lambright faces charges of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, first-degree aggravated theft and violating probation.

The arrests come after police responded early Friday morning to an overnight theft from a vehicle. A wallet, a large amount of cash and multiple credit cards had been stolen, according to the Woodburn Police Department.

Soon afterward, police were tipped off that one of the credit cards had been used at a gas station close to Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, officials said.

The two suspects left the area before officers with the Grand Ronde Police Department could get to them, according to police. But they were able to gather enough information on the suspects and their vehicle through video surveillance equipment to alert other law enforcement officials.

Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies soon found the two, who were taken into custody near 5322 Salem Dallas Hwy NW.

Authorities found the stolen items with the suspects. They also found out the two had spent some stolen money at Spirit Mountain Casino.

"Most 'smash-and-grabs' aren’t typically performed by criminal masterminds, just casual opportunists," a press release from Woodburn Police Department read.

"If they can see something of interest, they’re more likely to break in and take it. If you must leave items in your vehicle, make sure your valuables are out of sight," the press release read. "Never leave anything lying out on your seats, dashboard or floor."
