One man dies from injuries following 2-alarm house fire in southeast Salem

A man is dead following a 2-alarm house fire in southeast Salem early this morning.

Crews from Marion County Fire District #1 responded to a report of a house fire in the 4300 block of Munkers Street SE at about 5:15 a.m., according to dispatch records.

Timothy Allen, 45, of Salem, was pulled from the home and transported to the hospital by medics where he later died while being treated for injuries sustained in the fire, according to the Marion County Sheriff's office.

Roads in the area were closed while crews battled the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The victim's daughter recovered a cat from the home, however, the cat got away and returned to the structure where it is believed to have kittens.

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the fire to call Deputy Chris Kennedy at 503-930-9464.

Marion County was assisted by crews from Salem Fire, Keizer Fire, Aumsville and Turner Fire Districts.
