Power restored to 1,100 South Salem residents after a tree limb falls on power lines

Power was restored to more than 1,100 South Salem residents in just under 45 minutes, according to Steve Corson, a spokesperson for Portland General Electric. 

Crews determined the outage occurred after a large fir tree limb fell on three power lines at the top of a pole, Corson said. 

PGE workers removed the branch and were able to restore power by 6:56 p.m.

A power outage in South Salem is affecting more than 1,100 customers, according to officials from Portland General Electric

Two crews are investigating an outage at addresses on River Road S and homes on Equestrian Loops S, but the outage is not limited to these streets, according to Steve Corson, a spokesperson with PGE. 

The outage occurred at 6:14 p.m. Power is expected to be restored around 10:15 p.m, but the time may vary depending on what crews find, Corson said. 

The cause of the outage is still under investigation.
