A man was found dead Saturday in his living room after firefighters extinguished a blaze in a mobile home in Idanha.

Sheriff's officials said a dog also died in the fire.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office received a call just before midnight Friday about an old single-wide mobile home on fire on Church Street.

The caller said they believed the homeowner was still inside, according to authorities from the sheriff's office.

Idanha firefighters arrived at 12:03 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials believe it was accidental, Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon said.

As of Tuesday, authorities had not released further information on the identity of the man nor the cause of the fire.

The Gates Fire Department, the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office and the State Medica Examiner's Office assisted Idanha fighters and the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
