A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital following a shooting outside a bar in northeast Salem early Sunday morning, according to Salem Police.

Police were still searching for at least one suspect as of Sunday afternoon.

Jennifer Black, 40, of Salem was taken to Salem Health hospital and died there of her injuries.

A piece of crime scene tape lies on the ground beside a parking lot where two people were shot early Sunday morning near the Pine Street Pub in Salem, Oregon, on Aug. 18, 2019.

The unnamed man was transported to Salem Health as well, though his condition has not been released.

Officers arrived at the Pine Street Pub, 460 Pine St. NE, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after receiving reports of gunshots being fired in the parking lot.

Despite a search of the area including K-9 units, officers were unable locate any suspects. Salem Police did not release any suspect information as of Sunday.

August, in particular, has been marked by violence, especially in northeast Salem.

On Aug. 4, two people were killed within three hours of each other, both in shooting incidents.

The first victim was Ishaq Saleem, 16, of Keizer, who was shot near Englewood Park a little before 1 a.m., according to police.

The second was Francisco Daniel Torres Perez, 24, of Salem, who was shot at a home around 3 a.m. Alberto Medina-Cortes, 43, was arrested that night and charged with the murder of his stepson.

The next day (Aug. 5), police responded to a call of shots fired at 1 a.m., but did not identify any victims.

However, later that day, three people sustained non-life threatening injuries in a drive-by shooting near Polaris Street NE.

A second drive-by shooting occurred around 6 p.m. on Aug. 8. Police found bullet holes in a vehicle, but no injuries were reported.

Finally, on Aug. 10, a 21-year-old man was stabbed. His injuries were not life-threatening and police halted their investigation after he declined to be listed as a victim.

It is unknown if any of the incidents are related.
