Salem man identified in fatal crash on Highway 214 near Silverton

The motorcyclist killed following a crash on Highway 214 Monday has been identified.

Mark Clark, 69, of Salem, died from injuries after a driver struck his motorcycle just before noon Monday, according to Oregon State Police.

An investigation by troopers found Doyle Lewis, 82, of Salem, was driving northbound on the highway when he lost control of his Toyota Corolla and crossed into the oncoming southbound lane, striking Clark and a passenger on his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Clark was pronounced dead at Salem Hospital after being transported by Life Flight helicopter.

Clark's passenger, Brandi Wilcut, was taken to Silverton Hospital with serious injuries.

Lewis was not injured in the crash.

The highway was reopened to traffic by Monday evening.

Oregon State Police was assisted by Silverton Fire Department and Oregon Department of Transportation.

A crash southeast of Silverton Monday left a motorcyclist dead.

Update 6:20 p.m. 

One person died when a motorcycle and car collided Monday afternoon on OR 214 about two miles south of Silverton, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. 

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. The road was closed for several hours in both directions while police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.
