A Medford man was identified Tuesday as the pedestrian who was struck by a car and killed Saturday night on Interstate 5 near Woodburn.

Oregon State Police troopers and medics responded to the northbound lanes near milepost 271 around 10:20 p.m.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Sedan, driven by Daniel Henagin, 48, was traveling north on the interstate when he crashed into the center cable barrier for an unknown reason, according to a state police report.

Henagin got out of his vehicle and "unexpectedly" ran into the northbound lanes. Moments later, he was struck by a Honda Accord, driven by Trista Bumgarner, 37, of Portland.

Henagin was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Northbound lanes of the interstate were closed until around 3 a.m.

Officials have not issued any citations and the investigation is continuing, according to Capt. Tim Fox, a spokesman for Oregon State Police.
