Oregon State Police investigating crash on Highway 22 involving 5-year-old child

Oregon State Police troopers are looking for witnesses to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22.

Oregon State Police troopers are asking for the public's help with checking on the welfare of a 5-year-old child they suspect was injured during a crash on Highway 22 Tuesday.

Just after noon, a red Honda Civic was involved in a single-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of the highway near the Stayton/Aumsville exit. 

Witnesses reported seeing a male driver exit the crashed car with a 5-year-old boy who appeared to be injured. The man flagged down a black Hyundai sedan being driven by a woman with blonde hair and asked to be "taken to Stayton."

Oregon State Police troopers are looking for witnesses to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 22.

"OSP is checking on the welfare of the child and would appreciate any information," said officials in a statement. 

Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at 503-375-3555 or *OSP from a mobile phone. 

Callers can reference case number SP18-205352, which is assigned to Senior Trooper Beckert.
