Salem man charged with raping minor in Marion County, bail set at $250,000

A 61-year-old Salem man is being held in lieu of $250,000 after being accused of raping a minor in Marion County. 

Jesus Gonzales was arrested by Salem Police and charged with raping a minor under 16 at least twice since July 2017, according to court documents. 

He and the victim were known to each other through family, according to court documents.

Gonzales is being held at Marion County Jail. His next court date is at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 25. He is ordered to have no contact with the minor. 

Gonzales faces two counts of first-degree rape. First-degree rape is a Measure 11 offense that carries a minimum mandatory sentence of eight years and four months.
