One dies after robbery suspects flee from police near I-5 south of Salem

One person is dead after a vehicle fleeing police crashed south of Salem Thursday evening.

One person is dead after officials say suspects in a string of robberies crashed while fleeing police south of Salem.

Authorities identified the driver who suffered fatal injuries as 30-year-old Amber Mosey, of St. Helens. Also in the vehicle were 31-year-old Carmen Lewis of Eugene and 35-year-old Christopher Arrington of Portland.

Troopers located a vehicle reported stolen from Eugene on Interstate 5 near Albany at about 6:21 p.m. Thursday, according to Oregon State Police Capt. Tim Fox.

Officials say the occupants of the vehicle were persons of interest in several armed robberies in the Eugene area.

After troopers attempted a traffic stop, the driver of the fleeing vehicle lost control and rolled several times on Hochspeier Rd SE near the intersection with Jefferson Highway/Highway 164.

Mosey died at the scene of the crash; Arrington and Lewis others were taken to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.

Eugene Police are continuing a criminal investigation involving the armed robberies while the crash is being investigated by Marion County Sheriff's office with assistance from Oregon State Police and Keizer Police Department.
