A Salem man was arrested and charged with numerous drug-related crimes following a traffic stop in southern Oregon.

Walter Maureceo-Hernandez, 43, traveled from California to Oregon on a bus line and was dropped off Friday in Roseburg, according to a release from the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team.

Maureceo-Hernandez got in another car, but was pulled over by DINT detectives around 2 p.m. in the 2500 block of NE Stephens Street. Authorities did not indicate the reason for the traffic stop.

Roseburg Police Department's drug detection K-9, Trapper, indicated there was contraband inside the car.

Detectives found  a "large amount" of narcotics — including 5 pounds of methamphetamine and more than 1 pound of heroin — in Maureceo-Hernandez's backpack in the truck

Maureceo-Hernandez was taken to Douglas County Jail. He faces charges of unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of heroin, and unlawful delivery of heroin.

He also has several warrants out for his arrest out of Marion County for other drug-related crimes, according to DINT.
