Police: Driver's crash knocks down utility pole on Highway 99E

Highway 99E was closed for 2 hours early Wednesday following a crash near Hubbard.

A crash on Highway 99E south of Hubbard closed the highway early Wednesday.

Troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 99E near milepost 30 at about 2:45 a.m., according to Oregon State Police.

An investigation found Efren Arellano-Contreras, 19, of Woodburn, was driving north in a Ford pickup when he drifted off the road and crashed into a utility pole and business sign near Atlas Truck Parts.

Arellano-Contreras was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and criminal mischief, according to officials.

The highway was closed for about two hours while crews cleared the crash.

Oregon State Police was assisted by Marion County Sheriff's office, Woodburn Police, Hubbard Fire and Oregon Department of Transportation.
