A Stayton man reported missing following a break-in at his home was found safe early Sunday, Marion County Sheriff's deputies said.

Officers were dispatched about 10:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of an assault in the 11000 block of McClellan Road.

One of the victims, a 24-year-old woman, told deputies she fled to a neighbor's home to call for help after two unknown men broke into a travel trailer belonging to her and her boyfriend.

Mark Simpson, 34, of Stayton, was found safe early Sunday after being reported missing following a break-in to his home.

The woman said when she fled, her boyfriend, Mark Simpson, 34, was being held at knifepoint by one of the suspects.

When deputies arrived, Simpson and both suspects were no longer at the trailer.

Deputies searched for Simpson for several hours before he was located about 4 a.m.m by Stayton Police at a convenience store in Stayton. He told deputies he was able to flee the residence, getting away from the two unknown suspects.

Simpson was not injured and told investigators he walked to Stayton after hiding in the area.

The suspects were described as wearing hooded jackets or sweatshirts. No additional information was available.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 503-588-5032.
