Man charged with DUI after crashing into Keizer home

A Salem man was charged with DUII after he struck the corner of a house in the 5100 block of Courtlyn Street NE with his pickup March 28.

A Salem man has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a Keizer home Saturday evening.

James Johnson, 81, was driving west in the 1600 block of Chemawa Road NE when he struck a utility pole, swerved back into the road, crossed into the oncoming lane, drove his pickup through a fence and crashed into the back corner of a home. It came to rest after colliding with a parked vehicle, according to Keizer Police.

Officers were sent to the home in the 5100 block of Courtlyn Street NE at 6:40 p.m. following multiple reports of the crash and found the utility pole sheared off at the ground and Johnson's GMC pickup stuck against a second fence and parked car.

No injuries to the driver or residents of the home were reported.

Johnson was charged and released. His court date is pending.
