Man charged with DUI after crashing into Keizer home
A Salem man has been charged with driving under the influence after crashing into a Keizer home Saturday evening.
James Johnson, 81, was driving west in the 1600 block of Chemawa Road NE when he struck a utility pole, swerved back into the road, crossed into the oncoming lane, drove his pickup through a fence and crashed into the back corner of a home. It came to rest after colliding with a parked vehicle, according to Keizer Police.
Officers were sent to the home in the 5100 block of Courtlyn Street NE at 6:40 p.m. following multiple reports of the crash and found the utility pole sheared off at the ground and Johnson's GMC pickup stuck against a second fence and parked car.
No injuries to the driver or residents of the home were reported.
Johnson was charged and released. His court date is pending.
