High school football roundup: Salem-Keizer teams have better night

Pete Martini
Statesman Journal

Friday was a better night for Salem-Keizer football teams than last week, as they went 2-4, with West Salem and North Salem earning victories.

West Salem beat Bend on the road in a nonconference game 44-19, and North Salem won at Corvallis 27-19.

In other Salem-Keizer action, McNary lost at home to West Linn, 49-14, and South Salem lost at home, 30-7. Sprague lost on the road, 42-14, to Sherwood, and McKay lost 14-0 at home to Central.

For West Salem, McNary, Sprague and South Salem, they still have a few weeks of nonconference games before the Mountain Valley Conference season begins.

Like last season, teams in the MVC will play just four conference games, even though some of the teams will face each other in nonconference games, like West Salem and Bend did on Friday night.

For North Salem and McKay, the Mid-Willamette Conference season continues next week.

Here is a roundup of Friday’s games from across the Mid-Valley.
