North Salem's Keith Barnett voted Athlete of the Week; athletes from West Salem, Kennedy and Stayton also nominated

Keith Barnett, a running back and defensive back for the North Salem High School Vikings, has been voted the Statesman Journal's Athlete of the Week in an online poll of readers. Barnett had 16 carries for 100 yards and a touchdown, as well as one catch for 31 yards, and two interceptions for the North Salem football team in its 27-19 win against Corvallis.

Sophia Carley, Kennedy High School.

SOPHIA CARLEY, KENNEDY

She helped the Kennedy volleyball team finish second in a recent tournament at Cascade. In the tournament, she had 60 kills, 10 blocks and three aces. Overall, the Trojans are 10-1. 

Andres Labate, West Salem High School.

ANDRES LABATE, WEST SALEM

He had six goals and two assists for the West Salem boys soccer team during its first three matches this season, which all were victories. Overall, the Titans are 3-1 this season.

KJ Nyquist, Stayton.

KJ NYQUIST, STAYTON

She has six goals and seven assists this season for the Stayton girls soccer team. The Eagles are 2-1-1 overall this season, including 1-0-1 in the Oregon West Conference. Stayton tied Philomath and beat Newport last week.
