High school football roundup: West Salem, South Salem, Silverton earn victories

Silverton outlasted Lebanon in a back-and-forth battle between top-five teams Friday, with a 29-25 road victory. 

Hayden Roth scored three touchdowns for the Foxes, including a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter to give Silverton the win. 

With the victory, Silverton improves to 3-0 this season, and Lebanon falls to 2-1.

The Foxes are 2-0 on the road this season with Friday’s win.

Silverton next will host North Salem at 7 p.m. next Friday.

West Salem, South Salem earn wins

West Salem and South Salem earned victories on Friday night in nonconference action.

The Titans beat Grant 23-13 at home to improve to 2-1 this season. West Salem has won two games in a row, including a victory last week at Bend, since losing opening night to Lake Oswego.

The Titans have two more games (at Sheldon and home against Beaverton) before opening Mountain Valley Conference play Oct. 11 at South Salem.

The Saxons improved to 1-2 this season with a 24-14 win at McMinnville. The victory comes after consecutive setbacks at Newberg and against Sunset to start the season.

South Salem has a nonconference game against Sprague next week, then opens MVC play at Bend on Oct. 4.

In other MVC action in the Mid-Valley, Sprague lost 67-6 to Central Catholic, and McNary lost 52-27 to Tualatin.

West Salem 23, Grant 13: The Titans improve to 2-1 this season, and they next will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Sheldon. 

Tualatin 52, McNary 27: The Celtics fall to 0-3 with the loss, and they next will host Barlow at 7 p.m. Friday.

Central Catholic 67, Sprague 6: The Olympians fall to 0-3 with the loss, and they next will host South Salem at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

South Salem 24, McMinnville 14: The Saxons improve to 1-2 with the win, and they next will play at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Sprague. 

Dallas 37, North Salem 6: The Dragons improve to 2-1 with the win, and the Vikings fall to 1-2. Dallas next will host Corvallis at 7 p.m. Friday. North Salem next will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Silverton.

South Albany 9, McKay 6: The Royal Scots fall to 0-3 with the loss, and they next will host Lebanon at 7 p.m. Friday.

Silverton 29, Lebanon 25: The Foxes improve to 3-0 with the win, and they next will host North Salem at 7 p.m. Friday.

West Albany 35, Central 2: The Panthers fall to 1-2 with the loss, and they next will play at Crescent Valley at 7 p.m. Friday.

Stayton 49, Cottage Grove 20: The Eagles improve to 2-1 with the victory, and they next will host Cascade at 7 p.m. Friday.

Cascade 32, North Marion 29: The Cougars improve to 2-1 with the win, and they next will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Stayton.

Woodburn 27, Molalla 20: The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 with the win, and they next will at North Marion at 7 p.m. Friday.

Amity 55, Salem Academy 0: Amity improves to 2-1 with the win, and Salem Academy falls to 0-3. Amity next will host Coquille at 7 p.m. Friday. Salem Academy next will play at Hidden Valley at 7 p.m. Friday.

Pleasant Hill 48, Dayton 14: The Pirates fall to 1-2 with the loss, and they next will play at Madras at 7 p.m. Friday.

Santiam Christian 39, Scio 0: Santiam Christian improves to 3-0 with the win, and Scio falls to 1-2. Santiam Christian next will play at Blanchet at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Scio next will play at Regis at 7 p.m. Friday.

Yamhill-Carlton 48, Willamina 8: Willamina falls to 0-3 this season, and they next will host Monroe at 7 p.m. Friday.  

Kennedy 28, Santiam 6: Kennedy improves to 2-1 with the win, and Santiam falls to 1-2. Kennedy next will host Sheridan at 7 p.m. Friday. Santiam next will play at Gervais at 7 p.m. Friday.
