Wednesday's OSAA roundup: North Salem, Silverton, Stayton boys soccer teams advance

NORTH SALEM 2, EAGLE POINT 1

North Salem's boys soccer team pulled off a 2-1 upset road victory Wednesday at No. 4 seed Eagles Point in the first round of the OSAA Class 5A state playoffs.

The No. 13-seeded Vikings next will play at No. 5 Hillsboro on Saturday in the state quarterfinals. Time to be determined.

SILVERTON 5, RIDGEVIEW 0

Silverton's boys soccer team dominated No. 11 Ridgeview 5-0 in the first round of the OSAA Class 5A state playoffs.

The No. 6 Foxes next will play at No. 3 Wilsonville on Saturday in the state quarterfinals. Time to be determined.

STAYTON 8, MOLALLA 1

Stayton's boys soccer team dominated No. 12 Molalla 8-1 in the first round of the OSAA Class 4A state playoffs.

The No. 5 Eagles next will play at No. 4 Phoenix at 1 p.m. Saturday in the state quarterfinals.

WOODBURN 2, NORTH VALLEY 1

The three-time defending state champion Woodburn boys soccer team beat No. 11 North Valley in the first round of the OSAA Class 4A state playoffs.

The No. 6 Bulldogs next will play at No. 3 Ontario in the state quarterfinals on Saturday. Time to be determined.

LA GRANDE 3, NORTH MARION 0

No. 8 seed North Marion lost 3-0 at home to No. 9 seed La Grande in the first round of the OSAA Class 4A state playoffs. 

The Huskies end their season with a 7-4-4 overall record. 

La Grande next will play at No. 1 Marist on Saturday in the state quarterfinals. Time to be determined. 

SANTIAM CHRISTIAN 4, UMPQUA VALLEY CHRISTIAN 1

Santiam Christian's boys soccer team beat No. 9 Umpqua Valley Christian in the first round of the OSAA Class 3A/2A/1A state playoffs 4-1.

No. 8 Santiam Christian next will play at No. 1 Catlin Gabel in the state quarterfinals on Saturday. Time to be determined.

BROOKINGS-HARBOR 3, WESTERN CHRISTIAN/PERRYDALE 2

Western Christian/Perrydale lost 3-2 to Brookings-Harbor in the first round of the OSAA Class 3A/2A/1A state boys soccer playoffs.

Western Christian/Perrydale finishes the season with a 10-6-2 overall record. 

Brookings-Harbor will host St. Mary's on Saturday in the state quarterfinals. 

Stayton's goalkeeper Ivan Pelayo, 77, kicks a ball back into play during the Stayton vs Molalla boys soccer game on Nov. 6, at Stayton High School. During the first round of the state playoffs, Stayton defeated Molalla, 8-1.
