It was a big weekend for high school basketball in the Mid-Valley, with the Kennedy girls basketball team coming out the big winner.

The Trojans won the OSAA Class 2A state championship. They have owned the Pendleton tournament in recent years, claiming their third title in five seasons.

The state tournaments continue this week at the 6A, 5A and 4A levels, and there will be Mid-Valley teams competing at all three levels.

At 6A, both the South Salem boys and girls basketball teams will be at the tournament at Chiles Center on the University of Portland campus.

In 5A, both the Silverton boys and girls basketball teams will compete at Gill Coliseum on Oregon State’s campus, and at the 4A level, the Stayton, Woodburn and North Marion boys basketball teams, plus the North Marion girls team, will compete in Forest Grove.
