Courier giant DHL Express has been revealed as the final company to take on a unit at the multi-million pound Tunstall Arrow development.

The German logistics firm, which specialises in international courier, parcel and express mail services, is moving into a 35,315 sqft unit on the Sandyford site next month - with dozens of jobs to be created.

DHL Express is the final business to move on to the £11 million development, which is now fully-let.

The firm has a number of service points across North Staffordshire in Newcastle, Hanley and Longton.

The news comes six months after StokeonTrentLive revealed the four companies moving on to the new business park.

They are:

  • Railing and balustrade contractor Q-railing which is the anchor tenant and is relocating from Wolstanton,
  • Handling equipment manufacturer Pramac-Generac, which is moving from its current site in Crewe;

  • Equipment hire business Boels Rental, which has sites in Stoke, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Italy;

  • Australian fleet management firm sgfleet, which acquired Longton-based vehicle hire and rental group Motiva last year.

Peter Davenport, managing director of sgfleet, said: “Following the acquisition of Motiva Group in Stoke-on-Trent, we are proud to be continuing our investment in the city and are excited to be relocating to a prestigious and geographically well-placed facility as Tunstall Arrow.”

The 130,000 sqft Tunstall Arrow scheme has been developed by Network Space in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

Simon Peters, development director at Network Space, said: “As a speculative development, we were delighted to let three out of the five units prior to completion.

"To now have the scheme fully let so soon after completion is testament to the quality of the units and location and of our ability to work positively with occupiers.

"The scheme will now be managed by our sister business Network Space Management Ltd which will ensure that the quality of our investment is maintained."

Network Space is now planning phase two where it intends to deliver a similar scheme - of five 10,000 to 30,000 sqft industrial units - on a site bordering James Brindley Way and Sandyford Cricket Club.

Work is due to start later this year.

Councillor Janine Bridges, cabinet member for education and economy, said: “The Tunstall Arrow development and wider Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone is helping to bring both national and international businesses here, which is fantastic for Stoke-on-Trent.

“It demonstrates the confidence and ambition that is growing in the local economy, and it’s great news for the local workforce and our young people who are moving into the world of work.

"We’re now looking forward to Tunstall Arrow’s second phase and the further boost this can bring to investment and jobs.”
