A busy town road is closed this afternoon due to an 'unsafe building'.

Newcastle Street is closed due to an unsafe fascia board on the old fire station in the town.

Traffic monitoring system INRIX says the A520 Radford Street, which is part of the one-way system through Stone, has also been closed near the Co-operative store due to falling debris.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police, said: "Our officers are at the scene assisting with the highways department which has closed the road on Newcastle Street and Crown Street.

"The road closure is due to a fascia board on the old fire station building which is at risk of falling.

"We expect the road to be closed for the next two hours."
