An amazing new dog adventure park with an obstacle course, lake and woodland has opened just a short drive from Stoke-on-Trent.

Unleashed at Wrenbury Hall Woods near Nantwich welcomed its first four-legged visitors this weekend.

Set in stunning countryside, there is acres of space to roam freely off the lead - so long as you keep to the rules.

There are also plenty of tree stumps, tyres, tunnels and branches to climb on, jump off and crawl through.

It has been launched by Jess Fleet who came up with the idea after struggling to find places for her dog to play off the lead.

Speaking to  CheshireLive  she said: "We've had the land in our family for a while and it's an idea I've always had.

"I've always had dogs - my Springer Spaniel loves the water."

Floyd the Springer Spaniel gave the park a good test run leading up to launch day

Owners will be able to book their dogs into a 'socialisation session', where they can play and chase other dogs.

Sessions on Saturdays and Sundays are split into miniature and small, all dogs or medium and large dogs.

An hour-and-a-half slot costs £6 for one dog, £9 for two or £12 for three to four.

The park rules

  • Humans are responsible for their dog(s) at all times.  Do not leave your dog(s) unattended at any time – be aware of where they are and what they are doing.
  • Please take particular care around the lake.  Dogs are welcome to swim but you remain responsible for them whilst swimming.
  • Dogs should be under voice control of their humans.
  • Monitor your dogs for any health or behaviour problems.
  • Warning signs may include growling, snarling, glaring, snapping and stiff body language.
  • Do not allow any signs of trouble such as aggression, rough play or bullying. Be prepared to intervene if necessary. Use a clap and/or loud noise, have leads ready and remove your dog(s) from any unwelcome situations.  Be prepared to leave if necessary.
  • Do not allow your dogs to hump, dig or bark excessively.
  • Clean up after your dog immediately.
  • No human food, smoking or littering.
  • No climbing on gates, fences or in the adventure area.
  • Only bring tennis balls/toys if your dog(s) is willing to share.
  • No dog food other than small treats which may be used for training purposes if no other dogs are nearby.  Do not put treats on the floor, and always ask other dog’s humans before offering treats to their dogs.
  • No more than three dogs per adult (aged 18+).
  • Dogs must be up to date with their vaccinations.
  • Don’t bring female dogs who are on heat/in season.
  • Bring only friendly and sociable dogs to group sessions. If your dog has any behaviour issues, is aggressive or is not comfortable with other dogs, please do not bring them to group sessions, the field can be hired privately instead.
  • Dog dress code – dogs must wear a collar or harness and ID tag.
  • Human dress code – appropriate footwear is recommended.

The idea seems to be something that many dog owners are keen to use, with many already expressing an interest and getting their canine companions booked on for a session.

Jess said: "I have had a lot of demand since advertising."

She explained that it's likely people have the same issue she did, finding somewhere to allow a beloved pet to run free - without fearing for their safety.

Dogs are free to swim in the lake

For critics who may be concerned over safety of their dogs, Jess explained that everyone is expected to take responsibility for their own dog.

"During the sessions owners stay with their dogs, as it's not day care - owners will be responsible.

"If there is a particular dog causing a problem we will ask the owner of that dog to leave."

While the park doesn't offer daycare services for the dogs, Stockport-based small dog sitters Barkdales will be making use of the facilities at Wrenbury Hall.

The venue is also available for private hire.
