Two people have been arrested after an early morning street brawl ended with a motorist ramming a police car.

Officers were called to reports of a fight in Century Street, Hanley , at 12.45am today.

When they arrived there were at least five people fighting and damage to a nearby car.

Inspector Steve Wilde, from Staffordshire Police, said: "We were called to Century Street at 12.45am where there was a disturbance involving at least five people fighting in the street.

"There was damage to a vehicle and one male was arrested for criminal damage.

"The others at the scene then got into a vehicle and drove off. They then collided with street furniture and then a police vehicle.

"The occupants in the car then ran off but another male - believed to be the driver - was arrested at the scene,

"There were no injuries and we are currently investigating."

Witnesses are asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously quoting incident 43 of June 15, 2019.
