Armed police officers have recovered two air pistols after storming a house on a Stoke-on-Trent street.

Officers were called to Galsworthy Road in the Saxonfields area of Longton shortly after 8pm yesterday (May 28).

A woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Jones, of Staffordshire Police, said: "An armed deployment by the Staffordshire Police Dogs and Armed Response Unit to Galsworthy Road where a female in her 40s has been arrested and two air pistols recovered."

A Staffordshire Police spokesman added: "A 41-year-old woman from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and remains in custody at this time."

Police officers last night revealed the incident posed 'no threat' to the general public.

But one neighbour said they were told to remain in their home as officers stormed a property.

They told StokeonTrentLive: "There was an umarked police car sat just down the road with armed police sat in it.

"There was then another one further down by our shops and the Co-op was all locked up. I was at my nan's dropping shopping when my neighbour called saying police had advised everyone to get in the house and lock all doors and windows."
