Here are the latest cases from North Staffordshire Justice Centre:

LIGHTWOOD:

Drug user Scott Finney has been fined £120 after he was found in possession of two drugs.

The 44-year-old dropped a Kinder egg on his arrest after police attended a house in Selwyn Street, Stoke, on the morning of July 27.

Officers found some rocks and powder inside the capsule, which was analysed and found to be 1.89 grams of heroin and 4.52 grams of monkey dust. The defendant accepted the drugs belonged to him.

Finney, of Ridge Walk, Lightwood, pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug and possession of a class B drug at North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

Angela Trafford, mitigating, said the defendant has had a drug addiction since he was aged 17. But he did not commit any offences for 19 years until earlier this year. He has now re-engaged with Druglink.

As well as the fine, Finney was ordered to pay £185 costs and a £30 surcharge.

CHELL HEATH:

Drunken Scott Taylor snapped the heel of his ex-partner’s shoe when he went to her house to try and find a bank card.

The 30-year-old attended the address in Withington Road, Fegg Hayes. at 12.20am on October 26 and charged up the stairs to his victim’s bedroom.

Prosecutor Emma Thompson told magistrates: “He started to rip the drawers out and pull out clothes. He picked up a shoe and ripped the heel off.”

In his police interview, the defendant said he was intoxicated. He said he wanted to retrieve a bank card. He accepted his behaviour was childish and apologised the following day.

Taylor, of Sprinkbank Road, Chell Heath, pleaded guilty to criminal damage.

James Hulse, mitigating, said the defendant became inebriated and went to the complainant’s address to find a bank card. He found it cut in half and left the address. He added that his client is remorseful.

Magistrates fined Taylor £265 and ordered him to pay £30 compensation, £135 costs and a £30 surcharge.

BIDDULPH:

Timothy Whyatt, aged 29, of Tunstall Road, Biddulph, has pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and using a vehicle without an MOT certificate. He will appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on December 11. He remains on bail.

FEGG HAYES:

Fifty-five-year-old Gary Emery, of Biddulph Road, Fegg Hayes, who is charged with exposure, will appear at magistrates' court on December 4. His bail has been extended.

STOKE-ON-TRENT:

A warrant has been issued for Kieran Hogan after the 21-year-old failed to attend North Staffordshire Justice Centre. The defendant, of no fixed address, is charged with assault by beating and theft from a person.

TRENTHAM:

Magistrates issued a warrant for Shaun Malbon after he failed at attend magistrates' court.

The 36-year-old, of Trentham Road, Trentham, is charged with possession of class A drug heroin and possession of class B drug amphetamine at Fenton on May 23.

HANLEY:

A warrant was issued for 39-year-old Matthew Sherwin after he failed to attend North Staffordshire Justice Centre.

The defendant, of St Ann Walk, Hanley, is charged with stealing meat and cheese worth £138.50 from the Co-op, Bradwell, on July 18.

LONGTON:

Magistrates issued a warrant for 32-year-old Matthew Jones, of Brunel Walk, Longton, after he failed to attend North Staffordshire Justice Centre. He is charged with harassment without violence between October 21 and 25.

BLURTON:

Thief Stephen Davies has been jailed for eight weeks.

The 41-year-old, of Beaconsfield Drive, Blurton, pleaded guilty to theft of food and cider worth £21.43 from the Co-op, Blurton, on September 16. He also admitted stealing two pizzas and three cartons of milk the next day from Blurton Community Hub.

The offences placed him in breach of a conditional discharge he received for three shoplifting matters. And he also pleaded guilty to breaching a domestic violence prevention order (DVPO) on November 12.

Peter Howland, mitigating, said the defendant’s partner did not complain about him attending her address. He added that the thefts were very low value.

Mr Howland said: “He has a drink problem. He wants to do something about that. He would welcome a community order. He has never been given one.”

But magistrates jailed Davies and ordered him to pay a £115 surcharge.

Magistrate Vivian Patterson told Davies: “You are in breach of a DVPO. You have not breached it once, but a number of times.

"You have shown a blatant disregard for that order.”
