The emergency services descended on a Stoke-on-Trent street this morning after an 'accidental' fire in a bathroom.

Firefighters from Newcastle, an ambulance, and a paramedic officer attended James Brindley Close in Shelton shortly after 10.30am today (August 7).

On arrival firefighters discovered a fire that began in a mid-terrace bathroom.

A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "A crew from Newcastle fire station attended an accidental fire following a call at 10.36am to a report of a fire in a bathroom of a mid-terrace house on James Brindley Close.

"Firefighters used breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

"They left the scene at 11.09am.

"All persons were accounted for."

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed an occupant was assessed on the scene.

A spokesman said: "We were called by the fire service at 10.38am to reports of a fire. An ambulance and paramedic officer attended.

"We're currently assessing one patient."
