Catwalk queen Heidi Leake is in the running to be crowned Miss Teen GB just months after sitting her GCSEs.
The 16-year-old won the Miss Teen Staffordshire title back in February and is now through to the national finals this October.
Her dedication to beauty pageants has also helped her gain high marks in her GCSEs at Blythe Bridge High School today.
Heidi, from Lightwood, said: “I had to do a speech for my English exam. I spoke about Miss Teen GB and got a distinction for it. One of my other GCSEs is in dance. I used my ballroom and Latin dancing skills for that. It was really fun.”
Altogether, she has achieved nine GCSEs and is now planning to study fashion and retail at Stoke-on-Trent College.
Heidi first started learning ballroom dancing at the age of nine and has since competed in dance contests across the country.
“Before my dance partner moved to Wrexham, we trained about 10 hours a week and competed every Sunday,” she added.
She then got involved in the world of pageants and would even arrange the choreography for events. At the age of 14, she competed in Miss Junior Teen Great Britain.
“For Miss Teen Staffordshire, there were 60 people in the final. I felt excited to win. It was ace,” she said.
“Now I’m preparing for Miss Teen GB, which is a four-day experience. You have interviews, photos shoots and a whole production at night. I’m thinking of making my own fashion outfit for it.”
Heidi’s pageant work has also led to her raising around £3,000 for charity. Some of this money has gone towards Miss Teen GB’s nominated charity, Together For Short Lives.
But she is also an ambassador for the Peter Pan Centre for children with special needs in Newcastle .
Fundraising feats have included abseiling in her sash, climbing Mount Snowdon and organising a fashion show.
