One lane is closed on the M6 motorway in Staffordshire this morning due to an accident involving two vehicles.

The collision has taken place on the southbound carriageway between J13 A449 (Stafford South) and J12 A5 (Gailey).

Inrix, the traffic data company, reports the accident involves a car and a lorry.

Lane one of four is closed and traffic is currently coping well, according to Inrix.

The accident is understood to have taken place shortly before 7am today (Sunday February 17).

Traffic England reports all other lanes are running.
