A fire investigation is underway this morning after three fire engines were called to a fire at a shop on a Stoke-on-Trent high street.
Fire crews first confirmed they had been called to the blaze on the Strand in Longton at around 4.30am today (Friday December 7).
Crews from Longton and Hanley attended, with The Strand closed and motorists asked to avoid the area while the fire was dealt with.
By 5.15am Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were making good progress and had used two 'breathing apparatus' and one hose reel jet to tackle the fire.
At 5.50am this morning the road had reopened and the fire was out.
A Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Fire appliances reduced to one, fire now extinguished and investigations in progress.
"The road has been reopened."
